Conditions of diving the Blue Lagoon

Apologies in advance if the following sound a bit Over the Top. Please remember that we are just an ordinary branch of BSAC who happen to have access to a decent lake and would like to share it with you.  07020 96 0832 is the number to ring if you want to dive the Blue Lagoon. Alternatively, e-mail diving@mksac.co.uk

Please book in advance.

We have to abide by conditions laid upon us by the local council. One of these conditions is that we have no more than 21 divers on site at once. By you giving us notice, we can make sure that we do not have too many divers and risk losing our licence for the Bluey.

Please book in advance (again)

Also we do sometimes close the Blue Lagoon, either totally (our AGM for instance) or because we are running our own courses. Again, please ring to avoid disappointment.

Please NOT the first Wednesday of the month

It has been suggested that one of the reasons our own divers are not diving the Blue Lagoon is because of overcrowding by visitors (Some days last year we had six clubs wanting to visit - three were turned away.  Some clubs bring up to twelve divers).  For a trial period, we are not allowing visitors for the first Wednesday in a month.  If, in a few months, records show more of our divers turn up on the first Wednesday - we will have a think.  If not, we will revert to visitors welcome anytime.

Please give 48 hours notice

Our Club Officials give their time freely. They also enjoy their diving (which may or may not be at the Bluey). If you ring after 18:30 on Monday (for diving Wed) or after 18:30 Friday (for the Sunday) your message may not be heard until after you have tried to dive....And our Dive Marshall has turned you away...

Provide your own Dive Marshall and Standby Diver.

YOU will find it easier to recognise YOUR divers when they surface. So it is easier for us if you provide a Dive Marshall. Also, you know the QUALIFICATIONS of your divers and if they are training or not. Therefore you will make a better safety diver than we will....

Give extra notice if YOU want extras

We try to help. Honest! If you can't manage your own standby diver, just ask us. But PLEASE, give us a few extra days notice (say a week in total).
