Brian Dove

Brian died on Thursday 19^th April 2001. On Wednesday the 18^th he was at the Bluey as always doing the dive sheet for Stowe and I guess most of us that were there exchanged a few words with him as we always did - not a conversation just a ‘hello Brian you doing the marshaling sheet then?' and so on.

Those of us who have known Brian from the early days of Milton Keynes diving will know that we have lost a good and true friend. A past Chairman for many years with a wealth of club history going back to the days when a small group of friends decided to start a diving club in Milton Keynes.

He always managed to remain above our petty politics, through I think his love of diving and divers. I never heard him utter a disparaging word in all of the years that I knew him. Even when things were particularly difficult, he remained a voice of quiet reason and always gave unstintingly of his time and energy.

There is great sadness now, words are never adequate when you lose a good friend. To Bet and his family we offer our most sincere sympathy, we can only share a fraction of their loss. To Brian we say that we shall miss you terribly, you gave us more than we ever gave in return …….. but you knew that real friendship doesn’t work like that didn’t you.
