Milton Keynes Sub Aqua Club was formed in the early days of the City of Milton Keynes, around 1974. Over the years it has grown and moved (we are now in our third Clubhouse and looking at another change of venue). Diving has changed with dry suits replacing home made wet suits, stab jackets and wings replacing the old horse collar and lightweight plastic regulators replacing the old metal ones that, in turn, replaced the twin hose. Most divers now have contents gauges which would have been unheard of in 1974!Training has changed as well. The old third, second and first class diver was replaced by Novice, Sports, Dive Leader and Advanced. The Novice grade split in two before being replaced by Club and Ocean Diver and soon, Club Diver will be lost as well. Dive Leader is still with us although there have been rumours....Records of MKSAC are far from complete. The links on the left give some idea of what diving was like in those "early days".
